Paul Potts, The Awesome Guy July 18, 2007

Filed under: Britain’s Got Talent, alexwrege, paul potts, performance — nungning26 @ 9:48 pm

I ‘ve just been to my teacher’s website and went around. Until I’ve seen one post which is inclusive the clip vedio that one guy whose name is Paul Potts sang a song in Britain’s Got Talent. I’ve watched it by my teacher before. He turned it on in the class and he told us that this guy is just a cell phone salesman in Wale. And today I wanted to watch again. I remember when I watched it first time, I felt that it was amazing and my arms’ hair were standing up at that moment.

I think people who are in that hall and who have watched him have to think that he was so cool because he doesn’t look like a person who is good for singing that kind of song, but he can sing very very good. And he is a kind of shy. So he made me think that everyone can do every things that they want, just work hard and make their own purpose. Then they will be there in one day. In addition, I agree with my teacher that he will be a hero for many people who watched his performance too.

Have you ever tried to listen to Chinese songs before?
I’ve heard too many songs when I was in Thailand becuase there’re too many series and movies from China.
And this song is my favourite Chinese song. First time when I’ve listened to it, it’s OST of the Meteor Garden. The serie is from Taiwan and it was very famous in South East Asia. I remember that it was very popular when I was in college. I think almost every college girls watched it because when the serie was on-air and there’re some kissing scenes, I heard some scream voices.
It wasn’t popular for only college girls and my mom and my brother are also addicted.

For the meaning of this song, I’ve just asked my friend who’s Chinese. He told me that the song’s title means “You want my love”. However, I still don’t understand the whole meaning of this song. But one thing which I like this song is melody. I think it’s very nice and the artist’s voice is very sweet also. So if you’ve never listened to Chinese songs, try this one and comment it. I would like to know what you think. Do you think like me or not???

pity dog

For people who love dogs like me,
I’ve just heard from my dad that a dog - THUN - which lived in front of my home in Bangkok was taken to somewhere else. My dad told me the reason is she bites some people around there and someone want to call police. So her owner has to take her out from that area.

I felt sad when my dad told me about that because I’ve seen her for long time. I think more than 5 years. At first my family just gave some food for her. Then she liked to stay in front of my home and after she came in to my home sometimes such as when it rains. Also sometimes she was washed by my brother because she was so stinky. We were not able to stand anymore. Even though we have our own dogs, we still fed her. And sometimes she came in my home to play with other dogs.

But now there’s no her anymore. We can’t do anything, even my brother’s close to her owner and he lives in my home. Therefore, I think all of thing which we can do is remembering her and wish her to stay in the good place.

Grocery for Asian people in Toledo July 10, 2007

For Asian people in Toledo or people who like oriental taste, there are some Asian groceries in Toledo, OH that you can buy grocery for cooking by yourself.

First one is Asian Grocery, located in 1801 McCord Road (Corner of Dorr and McCord) Toledo, OH. This store is quite small, but I recommend that you can find everything that you want. Even probably sometimes you can not find something that you want, you can ask the owner. She’s friendly and she likes to answer your questions too.

Second one is Tee Oriental Food & Gifts, situated in 1101 N Mccord Rd
Toledo, OH
or is opposite the street from the Asian Grocery. This one is bigger than the first one and the price is almost the same. But they sell more dry stuff and snacks than the first one. So if you would like to buy fresh meat or vegetable, I suggested you to go to the first one. However, this store is cleaner and nicer than the first one.

The last one which I know and I like to go there is Lee Oriental Market or on internet is called Kim’s Oriental Market. This one is located in 2527 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH. If you’re the one who like Oriental taste as me, you will not be disappointed when you’re there. They sell many things from Korean and Japan. For myself, I like Japanese food. So I like to buy Japanese food such as Gyoza, Shumai, Dorayaki and Pocky. Also, one thing there from Korean which you shouldn’t miss is Kim-Ji. It’s very good, if you like to have vegetable. However, the price in this store is more expensive than those one, but I like it anyway.

Now if you want to try to cook like Thai food, Japanese food, Chinese food, even Indian food, you know where the source is. So, have fun and enjoy your meal.

firework @ Cedar Point on July4th_3

This is my first Independent Day in the U.S. and I thought that I should go somewhere for seeing the firework on this day. Of course, there were in many places around the city (Toledo). Some where have firework 2 days which are July 3rd and July 4th such as Maumee. Some friends of mine went to downtown Toledo, but I decided to go to Cedar Point, Sandusky.

firework @ Cedar Point on July4th_2

First, I thought I could have fun there, but my thought was wrong. As everyone knows, there were a lot of people in everywhere on that day – Cedar Point also. I could not ride many things because there were too many people and my friends took their kids there. So we had to take care of kids too.

firework @ Cedar Point on July4th_6

Anyway, I got 1 impressive thing which is the firework in Cedar Point. It was very nice. They started around 9.30-10pm. My friends and I stopped walking and sat down on the floor to watch it. It took time a little bit, but it was very nice as I said. So we didn’t think that we wasted our time to see it. There were many kinds of firework – some like a star and some like a heart. And the last one which were too many fireworks exploded in the same time to show that were the last one.

firework @ Cedar Point on July4th_9

On July 4th, Cedar Point closed at midnight, but when the firework finished, everyone started to leave included my friends and I also. Therefore, we stuck at parking lots there for half an hour, I think. But I heard some of my friends stuck in downtown Toledo for 1-2 hours. I was very tired on that day, but I also got some more experience from that day too.

Papaya Salad — Som Tum July 9, 2007

Filed under: papaya salad, som tum, thai food, thailand — nungning26 @ 6:17 am

One of the famous Thai food is Som Tum or as known in Papaya Salad in English. This food is from the North-East of Thailand. You can also have it in another country which is Loas. In addition, it always served with grilled chicken or fried chicken and sticky rice like a meal.

Let check it out how to make it :

Ingredients:
1 fresh green papaya
5 Thai chilies (prik kee noo)
6 garlic cloves, coarsely chopped
2 medium sized tomatoes, sliced thinly
1/2 cup green beans cut into one inch lengths
2 teaspoons of fish sauce
1 quart cup of tamarind juice

Preparation:
Peel the skin off of the papaya, then use a cheese grater to shred the papaya. The seeds are not used! After you have finished, sprinkle some salt onto the shredded papaya, and let stand for 30 minutes

Directions:Now you will need a mortar and pestle. (You can use a regular mixing bowl, but you just don’t get the right effect.) Combine all of the ingredients except for the tomato into the mortar bowl and mix thoroughly. Then add the tomato and briefly mix (do not pulverize the tomato into liquid- you want it to be kinda’ “bruised”)

Papaya salad tastes good with spicy, but for people who don’t like spicy, you can also put only 1 chili or none. Also, don’t forget to put peanut in there to make your papaya salad more good taste.

Surf’s Up Movie July 4, 2007

Surf Up is one of the comedy anmation movies of the year. The characters in this movie are penguins, chicken and bird. Of course, they’re so cute. This story is about the surf competition between animals, but it only has penguins and chicken. Therefore, I have the Suft Up brief story for everyone :

The flim profiles teenage Rockhopper penguin Cody Maverick, an up-and-coming surfer, as he enters his first pro competition. Followed by a camera crew to ducument his experience, Cody leaves his family and home in Shiverpool, Antarctica to travel to Pen Gu Island for the Big Z Memorial Surf Off. Along the way, Cody meets surf nut Chicken Joe, famous surf promoter Reggie Belafonte, surf talent scout Mikey Abromowitz, and spirited lifeguard Lani Aliikai, all of whom recognize Cody’s passion for surfing, even if it sometimes goes too far. Cody belives that winning will bring him the admiration and respects he desires, but when he unexpectedly comes face-to-face with a washed-up old surfer named Geek, Cody begins to find his own way, and discovers that a true winner isn’t always the one who comes in first. (www.sonypictures.com)

This movie is a kind of children movie. So, if you don’t mind to watch it in the theatre around with many kids keep asking their parents many questions about the movie as when I watched it, this movie is a good one for you too. Also, the story is not too complicated and the characters are so nice such as the way they use colors and graphic things. However, it’s quite short only 80-90 minutes because the kids can’t concentrate something for long time like adults can do. Therefore, I think it’s not only for the kids, but it’s teenager and adaults also.

Chicken Pad Thai July 3, 2007

Filed under: pad thai, thai food, thailand — nungning26 @ 3:39 am

Pad Thai is the most popular and famous Thai dish. It’s served in every Thai restaurant around the world.
If you’ve never had it before, you can try one at Thai restaurant. However, you can try to cook yourself by following the under recipe and preparation.

Ingredients:
1 pack dried rice stick noodles or “sen lek”
1/2 cup dried shrimp
1/2 cup baked tofu cut into small strips
1/2 cup ground peanut
1 cup fresh beansprouts
1/2 cup chives cut into 1 inch pieces
1 pound chicken meat cut into small bite-sized pieces
6 eggs
2 teaspoons pepper powder
1/2 cup fish sauce
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons smashed garlic
2 tablespoons smashed onion
1/2 cup of water

Preparation:
1. Soak the rice stick noodles in tepid water for roughly 15 minutes. Then cut the noodles into 4-inch pieces. Strain the noodles, then set them aside.
2. Using a large skillet (preferably a wok) heat the vegetable oil and add in the garlic, onion and tofu.
3. After stirring for 2 minutes, add in the dry shrimp, and stir. Then, one at a time add in the peanuts, fish sauce, soy sauce, sugar, pepper and chicken, stirring the mixture the entire time.
4. Add the eggs and continue to stir the mixture. Then add in 1/2 cup of water.
5. Add the noodles, and be sure to stir! The noodles tend to burn if not continuously stirred.
6. Check to see if the taste of the dish is suitable to you, if not, then add in either fish sauce (salty), sugar (sweet), or soy sauce (salty). Here is where a matter of preference comes into play.
7. The final step is to add in the bean sprouts and chives, just before turning off the burner.

Don’t forget to ganish your Pad Thai with fresh beansprouts, ground peanut and lime or lemon. Also, you should mix it together before you have it. Enjoy!
